The Tri-City Community Foundation Advisory Committee recently announced it has awarded $21,322 to six organizations in its 2024 competitive grant cycle.
These funds will address the needs of communities in Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach in efforts to improve the quality of life of its residents.
The 2024 grantees include CARE House Inc., YMCA of South Alabama, South Baldwin Chamber Foundation, South Baldwin Literacy Council, Liberty Learning Foundation Inc. and Sight Savers America.
"The Tri-City Community Foundation will always support organizations that are dedicated to improving the quality of life in Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach," Ed Douglas, chair of the Tri-City Advisory Committee, said in a news release.
The committee overseeing the Tri-City Community Foundation consists of Ed Douglas, David Lee, Tammy Busby, Wade Bradford, Kim Frank, Matt Grant, Bob Higgins, Michelle Hodges, Steve Jones and Christi Koehle. They determine what areas to focus on within the tri-city communities.
The Tri-City Community Foundation is an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama and serves as a vehicle to receive donations and bequests to benefit the community in perpetuity.
By working with The Community Foundation of South Alabama, members of the Tri-City Community Foundation Advisory Committee can focus on raising the funds and deciding charitable use for the income of their fund while relying on the Foundation to handle the administration, investment and required daily tasks.
The Community Foundation of South Alabama is a nonprofit that aims to meet the needs of an eight-county region through leadership and grants. Since its founding in 1976, the Foundation has awarded more than $85 million in grants to nonprofits.
