Traffic/detour update: Intersection improvements coming to SR-59 and CR-12 in Foley

Motorists should prepare for traffic changes and detours for the next eight to 10 weeks in Foley as works begins to improve the intersection at SR-59 and CR-12. Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Feb. 6.
What to Expect
New turn lanes:
Right turn lanes will be added on SR-59 North and South.
Left turn lanes will be added on CR-12.
Additional improvements:
Culvert extensions
Signal upgrades
Traffic detours:
The east side of CR-12 will be temporarily closed.
Motorists should use Foley Beach Express and CR-20/Miflin Road as detour routes.
The detour starts Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. and will last approximately eight to 10 weeks.
Work Zone Safety:
Follow all posted traffic signs.
Reduce speed and use caution in the work zone and along detour routes.
Project Details
Cost: $1.83 million
Contractor: McElhenney Construction Company, LLC
Expected Completion: Fall 2025
Funded by: ATRIP (Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program)
