Tin Top Restaurant and Oyster Bar bids farewell to longtime location

Bon Secour's beloved Tin Top Restaurant and Oyster Bar is serving its final meals at its original location today.

Known for its vibrant atmosphere and mouth-watering coastal cuisine, the establishment announced on Facebook that it will close its doors at 6232 Bon Secour Hwy. at the end of business day on Saturday, Aug. 3, as it prepares to move to a new riverside location.

The restaurant, a local favorite for 20 years, is set to begin a new chapter along the Bon Secour River. The opening date for the new venue at 17451 County Road 49 S. in Bon Secour will be announced once the move is finalized.

“As this chapter comes to a close, we are excited to begin the next chapter in our new location on the Bon Secour River in the near future,” the Facebook post reads. “...Come on by for one last meal at our original location if you can. If not, we look forward to seeing you soon at the new one.”

Bob and Patty Hallmark, the founders of Tin Top, didn't initially envision a life in the restaurant business. Before opening the popular dining spot in 2004, Bob was a general contractor, and Patty was a teacher. Their journey began with a shared love for cooking, cultivated in a home where Bob grew up with four brothers and a mother passionate about food.

The Tin Top has been a testament to their culinary dream, offering steak and Coastal Alabama favorites in the heart of Bon Secour. The restaurant prides itself on delivering fresh, quality local foods with a New Orleans, southern coastal twist. Despite its casual atmosphere, the Tin Top takes its food seriously, ensuring every dish is crafted with care.

As the Tin Top Restaurant and Oyster Bar prepares for its move, the Hallmarks express their gratitude for the community’s love and support over the years. They look forward to welcoming everyone to their new location and continuing to serve both locals and out-of-town guests.
