Week 5 of the high school football season has playoff pictures starting to settle in as the unbeaten teams look to gain ground in their standings.

Only Class 7A’s No. 2 Fairhope, as well as No. 8 Orange Beach and Bayside Academy in Class 4A, are Baldwin County’s last undefeated football teams and all face formidable opponents Friday night.

A second straight week without any intra-county matchups, this week only the Foley Lions are open and they return home next week to face No. 3 Saraland.

T.R. Miller Tigers (3-1) at No. 8 Orange Beach Makos (3-0), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

The teams’ first meeting will come in both squads’ first years on the Class 4A stage where T.R. Miller is coming off region championships its final two years in 3A and Orange Beach is ranked for the first time in school history.

Both the Tigers and Makos have started region play 2-0 where T.R. Miller’s lone loss this regular season came to top-ranked UMS-Wright Prep in non-region play.

The Tigers beat Wilcox Central (70-0) and Jackson (32-29) while Orange Beach has taken down Jackson (31-14) and Satsuma (37-12) to open its region slate.

No. 5 Theodore Bobcats (4-0) at Spanish Fort Toros (2-2), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

Spanish Fort is coming off its first region loss after winning its first two although the Toros nearly took down the No. 3 Saraland Spartans last Friday. This Friday, Spanish Fort enters with a 2-2 overall record and Theodore brings its 4-0 mark to the teams’ first matchup.

After the season-opening, walk-off loss to Fairhope, the Toros rattled off wins over Blount (16-6) and Baldwin County (42-7) to re-enter the Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings at No. 10 before the loss to Saraland.

Theodore moved up to No. 5 before last week’s game and remained there after it remained unbeaten with wins over Baker (32-3), Robertsdale (34-0), Murphy (41-13) and Baldwin County (49-0).

Baker Hornets (2-2) at Daphne Trojans (2-2), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

Both Baker and Daphne grabbed back-to-back wins to erase 0-2 starts to the regular season and now clash as 2-0 teams in 7A Region 1.

The Trojans beat Alma-Bryant 25-0 then Davidson 40-21 where the Hornets started with a win over Davidson (41-16) and are now coming off a win over Foley (56-35) after improving to 17-2 in games where they score at least 40 points since 2000.

According to the Alabama High School Football Historical Society, Daphne owns a 9-1 advantage over Baker in the all-time series that was first played in 1996 but the Hornets’ lone win came just last year, 35-31, in the teams’ second region contest. The Trojans’ defense has registered three shutout victories and four more games where it allowed single digits to help compile a scoring advantage of 474-100.

No. 2 Fairhope Pirates (4-0) at Davidson Warriors (0-3), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

All-time series: Fairhope leads 26-7.

Trend: Pirates have won the last five games, although Davidson had to forfeit the 2020 contest.

Next week: Fairhope is open.

No. 3 Saraland Spartans (4-0) at Robertsdale Golden Bears (0-3), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

All-time series: Saraland leads 8-0.

Next week: Robertsdale travels to face Alma-Bryant.

LeFlore Rattlers (0-4) at No. 7 Gulf Shores (3-1), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

All-time series: LeFlore leads 7-4, including a second-round playoff win to enact revenge on an earlier loss in the 2009 season.

Next week: Gulf Shores hosts Murphy.

Jackson Aggies (1-2) at Bayside Academy Admirals (4-0), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

All-time series: 0-0, teams’ first meeting.

Elberta Warriors (1-3) at Northview (FL) Chiefs (3-0), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

All-time series: 0-0, teams’ first meeting. Will also serve as Elberta’s first out-of-state opponent.

St. Michael Catholic Cardinals (2-2) at Satsuma Gators (0-4)

All-time series: 0-0, teams’ first meeting.

Next week: St. Michael travels to face McGill-Toolen.

Blount Leopards (1-2) at Baldwin County Tigers (0-3), Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.

All-time series: Baldwin County trails 9-3 but won last year, 2-0.

Next week: Tigers travel to face MGM.
