Thomas Hospital receives donation for new ultrasound machine to improve patient care

Posted

A donation from Arthur and Beverly Corte is bringing advanced medical technology to Thomas Hospital, enhancing care for patients who require difficult IV insertions.

After conversations with the hospital's nursing staff, the Cortes learned that a more sophisticated ultrasound machine could significantly improve the process of locating hard-to-reach veins. In response, they worked through the Thomas Hospital Foundation to fund the purchase of the new equipment.

The ultrasound machine will reduce the number of IV attempts needed, improving both patient comfort and procedural efficiency. Nurses will be able to deliver care more quickly and with less discomfort for patients, especially those who routinely face challenges with IV access.

Hospital leaders say the contribution reflects the strength of community partnerships and the vital role philanthropy plays in advancing healthcare.

Thomas Hospital, part of the Infirmary Health system, serves residents across Baldwin County and the Eastern Shore. The Foundation frequently collaborates with donors to fund equipment and programs that directly impact patient care.
