Thomas Hospital Auxiliary seeks junior volunteers

Posted

FAIRHOPE — High school students between the ages of 14 - 17 who have an interest in volunteering at Thomas Hospital are invited to participate in the Thomas Hospital Auxiliary’s junior volunteer program this summer. Students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average to participate.

The program’s goals are to give service to the hospital, increase community understanding and interest in the hospital and further interest in health careers.

“This is a great opportunity for our area students to get involved in healthcare careers early in their lives,” Melita Willkie, manager of volunteer services at Thomas Hospital, said. “We are looking for mature students who have good communication skills, a great attitude, and a desire to learn and accept responsibility. We look forward to offering them a wonderful place to volunteer and the opportunity to provide a valuable service to their community.”

Participants must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. They must complete a health screening, attend an orientation class, and then volunteer four hours per week between June 6 and July 29.

Interested students can apply online at www.thomashospital.com. Completed applications and all required documentation must be submitted by Friday, April 1. No application will be accepted after this date. There are a limited number of openings for the program, so students are encouraged to apply early. For more information, contact Willkie at 279-5525 or melita.willkie@infirmaryhealth.org.
