If you are looking for an afternoon fun this summer, then look no further than Tacky Jacks in Gulf Shores. The 10th Annual Summer of Fun series features family friendly events each Tuesday through Thursday starting June 7. Online reservations are required. A monthly schedule of events is online at www.tackyjacks.com and below.
Tuesdays
Hands on Habitat is a fun and educational hands-on nature series presented by Gulf State Park Nature Center, Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, Orange Beach Wildlife Center, Orange Beach Coastal Programs Beach Nesting Program, Share the Beach Sea Turtle Program and Clean Horizons. Children and adults alike can learn about our ecosystem and interact with the animals that live here with us. The event is free to attend and is all ages from 11 a.m.- noon (arrive 15 minutes early). Online RSVP required.
Wednesdays
Art al Fresco is "A hands on lunch and learn for starving artists of all ages."
Create different works of art and crafts every Wednesday this summer. Projects include reverse tie-dye shirts, nature resin or shell jewelry, beachy straw hats, friendship bracelets, create with paint or clay and learn to sculpt with sand with pros from Sand Castle University. All ages lunch and learn every Wednesday at 11 a.m.-noon (arrive 15 minutes early). Includes $10 gift card for lunch for paid classes, fee: depends on the project. Online RSVP required.
Thursdays
Tacky Jacks Beach Games is all about a little friendly competition. Children ages six to 12 compete every Thursday this summer in games, challenges and more. All participants get a free lunch from Tacky Jacks, prizes, and get to be on TV. Parents can compete in a friendly game of water balloon dodgeball for prizes. The event is free to attend for ages six to 12 every Thursday from 11 a.m. - noon (arrive 15 minutes early). Online RSVP required.
