Summertime raffle kicks off: Local businesses support Friends of the Spanish Fort Library

The Friends of the Spanish Fort Library's Backyard Party raffle has kicked off, and one lucky ticket holder is set to win a barbecue package worth $1,000.

While an official end date for the raffle has not been announced, it is set to conclude later in July, according to organizers. Make sure to keep on eye on the Spanish Fort Public Library Facebook page for announcements.

Activities organized by the Friends generate revenue to supplement the library's budget and sponsor public programs at branches, such as talks, art shows, story hours and cultural events. This annual raffle is a major fundraiser for the Friends.

The winner will receive a barbecue bundle, including gift cards for meats and seafood, desserts and supplies. Eastern Shore Ace Hardware is providing a Napoleon Rogue 425 gas grill as the highlight. This year's sponsors also include 3 Arrows Boutique Butcher, Something Sweet Bake Shop, Mosley's Fine Meats, Bon Secour Fisheries, Downtown Cigar LLC and Daphne Walmart.

"Pretty much everything you need for a great cookout is included," board member Sonya Van Cleave said.

"Just add good friends and music because this Backyard Party pack will do the rest!" Library Director Shanavia Reed added. "Our Friends really know how to create memories."

Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $10. They can be purchased now at Ace Hardware locations in Daphne and Spanish Fort.
