The Summer Reading Program at Summerdale Public Library kicks off Tuesday, June 6 with an exciting lineup.

The program kick-off will include a visit from Alligator Alley and a baby alligator and Summerdale's own Trae Barry will read a story to the children.

Barry played football for Spanish Fort High School. During his college career, he played tight end at Jacksonville State for four seasons and at Boston College for one season. He is currently playing in the XFL and competed in the championship game with the D.C. Defenders May 13.

Sandy Evans, Summerdale Public Library children's program director, said they typically have 72 children on the opening day of the Summer Reading Program and they anticipate another good response this year with the "All Together Now" theme.

The Summer Reading Program kick-off at Summerdale Public Library, 202 W. Broadway Ave., Summerdale, runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 6. For more information, call (251) 989-2011.
