Summerdale artist wins poster design contest for Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival

FOLEY – A Summerdale resident’s art will promote one of the biggest – and tallest – events in the area this spring.

Ragan Windsor of Summerdale was named the winner of the 19th-Annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival poster design contest. The 2023 festival will be held May 4-6 at OWA Parks & Resort. In addition to being the official poster for this year’s festival, Ragan’s artwork will also be displayed on the official balloon fest t-shirt and other merchandise.

Ragan is a local artist, business owner and recently retired art educator. Alongside her husband, Jim, and little dog, Peanut, she runs an online art gallery, www.studio1north.com, to display both her art and that of other emerging artists. She has not strayed from art education, as she still teaches it locally.

Ragan quotes herself as a “rapidly evolving” artist who enjoys using different mediums to convey different subjects in her artwork.

Ragan attended her first Balloon Festival last year, and she described it in a news release as “magical.”

Official posters and t-shirts will be available for purchase at the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival or in advance through the website, gulfcoastballoonfestival.com.
