Summer returns to the Gulf Coast this weekend

Humidity will begin to climb back to southern norms

Need to work in the yard? Take a nice long walk in the cool air? Do it now.

Summer is on its way back.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Mobile said the weekend will see warmer temperatures and a return to humidity.

"Saturday and Sunday, especially along the coast, we'll start seeing dewpoints back into the 70s which is typically when it starts feeling not so nice outside," said Morgan Barry, a meteorologist with the weather service.

A cold front is to thank for the few days of so-called fake fall that has blanketed Baldwin County in cooler morning and evening temperatures as well as dry days for much of this week.

"We usually rebound pretty quickly from those," Barry said.

Meteorologists are also keeping a watchful eye on Tropical Storm Fiona, currently moving westward towards the Northern Leeward Islands in the Caribbean. The system poses no threat to the Gulf for at least the next seven days.

Barry said if Fiona strengthens there is a good chance it will curve back out into the Atlantic.

If it remains weak, it may have the ability to drift west into the Gulf and reorganize there.

"We're really in a wait and see pattern," Barry said. "We're watching it get its act together to see how it evolves."
