Students “buzzing” to come out on top at Baldwin County Spelling Bee

LOXLEY - Thirty-five local students are set to compete in this year's Baldwin County Spelling Bee, taking place on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. The competition is scheduled to take place at the Loxley Civic Center, located at 4198 Municipal Park Drive.
Qualifiers include classroom winners from Baldwin County's elementary, intermediate and middle public schools and area private schools. The student who takes the crown will qualify to compete at the state level, scheduled for March 26. The state championship is sponsored by the Alabama Kiwanis Foundation.
Whoever wins the state competition will earn the right to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, scheduled for June 1 - 2. The national level competition is administered by The E.W. Scripps Company from its headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio on a not-for-profit basis.
