Spanish Fort junior Levenia Sim was recently named to her second National Junior Team for USA Swimming’s 2022-23 season in the 100-meter backstroke.
It was just July when Sim set her personal-best time in the event, 1:00.45, at the National Club Swimming Association’s (NCSA) Summer Junior National Championships. Her first-place finish in that race also garnered her the Performance of the Meet award and served as one of three wins she earned to help TNT Swimming’s women’s team finish 12th overall out of 52 scoring teams.
Her previous personal best did not stand for long after she recorded a time of 1:00.54 at the Southeastern Long Course Championship two weeks prior to the NCSA Championship. Sim also closed her season on the Southeastern Swimming circuit as the Local Swimming Community’s Senior Swimmer of the Year.
Sim’s previous roster spot on USA Swimming’s National Junior Team came alongside her sister, Letitia, who is currently swimming collegiately with the Michigan Wolverines. In her freshman season, Letitia Sim was a three-time All-American before she represented Singapore at the International Swimming Federation’s (FINA) World Championships in Hungary this summer.
