SILVERHILL, Alabama — Silverhill’s Oscar Johnson Memorial Library held its annual Summer Reading Program on Friday, July 28.

Silverhill Mayor Pro-Tem Jared Lyles read from “The Book With No Pictures,” by B.J. Novak and afterward, participants enjoyed silly games, cupcakes and sno-cones.

The event also included bounce houses and other activities and lunch. The program draws over participants annually to the library and is provided by the Silverhill Library Board and the town of Silverhill at no cost to participants.

Sno-cones and bounce houses were provided courtesy of the Baldwin Baptist Association, which is headquartered in Silverhill.

One of the oldest buildings in Silverhill, the library was the site of the original Svea Land Company, and is named for the town’s founder, who ran the company. It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
