FOLEY, Alabama — The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office kicked off the first of four Shining Star Youth Camps for 2017 Wednesday at Magnolia School The camp runs through today and is filled to capacity with over 100 campers but slots are still available for the next camp, June 28-30 at Fairhope Intermediate School, said Cpl. Jeff Spaller, BCSO senior resource officer and coordinator of the camp. Two more camps will be held later this summer, July 12-14 at Rockwell Elementary and Aug. 2-4 at Central Baldwin Middle School. There will be a family fun day with Sheriff Hoss Mack Saturday, Aug. 5 at CBMS, which is open to all campers. This is Spaller’s ninth year hosting the camps, which are open to boys and girls ages 8 to 13. The program was established to promote positive interaction between first responders and youth. Activities include drug awareness with K-9 demonstrations, crime scene investigations, boater’s safety with simulators, fire safety, physical health information, bowling, obstacle courses, guest speakers, a family fun day, and many other activities.
