FOLEY — The Alabama Small Business Development Center is working with local chambers and sponsors to host seminars to provide tips on starting a business in Baldwin County.
"We've had more people looking to start a new business than ever before," said Yolanda Devine Johnson, business advisor with Alabama SBDC. "These seminars are designed as hands-on to give people the opportunity to start their business the right way."
The Alabama Small Business Development Center has five seminars planned for 2022, Johnson said, holding its first seminar Jan. 25 with the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, Bancorp South and Coastal Alabama Community College in Gulf Shores.
"We had a limit of 25 for that seminar and more than 30 inquiries," Johnson said.
The next seminar, ASBDC, Bancorp South, the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and MainStreet Foley, will be held from 11 am. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, on the second floor of the Foley Public Library, 319 E. Laurel Ave.

You can register online at https://asbdc.ecenterdirect.com/events/9075. There is no cost for the seminars but each is limited to 25 participants, Johnson said.
"These seminars are filling up fast, so we are looking to do more in the coming months to help those who want to start a business in Baldwin," she said.
Workshops are for entrepreneurs of all ages, Johnson said, and are focused on LLC development, business licenses, tax responsibilities, financing options and resources to start and grow your business.
Social distancing will be observed, registration is required.
Another seminar has been planned with Bancorp South from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, 301 McMeans Ave., Bay Minette.
