Members of the Rotary Club of Fairhope traveled to Selma, to help with clean-up efforts in the tornado-stricken area. They drove the club's Disaster Response Trailer, which holds tools and equipment used to help in emergency situations, to Selma on Saturday, Jan. 14, spending the weekend helping clean up debris across the area. Those who helped included Ali Adali, Al Beck, Bob and B. B. Callahan, Brian Lorenzato, Mark Martin, Linda and David Mong, Chris Shrader, and Lee Turner. According to Brian Lorenzato, the team was able to help clean up five yards, including removing a large branch that had fallen on a car.
"We are pleased to have been able to help in this time of need," Lorenzato said. "It's what Rotary is all about — Service Above Self — and we count it as a blessing to be able to be there to assist during times like these."
The Rotary Club of Fairhope meets each Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at the United Methodist Church's Christian Life Center on Morphy Ave. Visitors are welcome.
