Baldwin County's second Wawa location in Robertsdale is nearing completion. Wawa announced the grand opening dates for Robertsdale and Mobile's Cottage Hill Road locations will be Aug. 29. Doors open at 8 a.m.

Wawa's first location in Alabama opened April 25 in Fairhope. The preview event hosted April 24 was packed with local leaders, media and Wawa VIP customers.

Much like the grand opening of the Fairhope location, Robertsdale and Cottage Hill will enjoy a full slate of festivities including a ribbon cutting, announcement of community partnerships and support for local organizations and the signature "Hoagies for Heroes" initiative.

"We are excited to continue our expansion into South Alabama with two stores opening on the same day, as well as others under construction," Joe Collins, director of store operations said in a statement. "We look forward to continuing to bring our unique brand of fresh food, beverages and convenience to new areas and to further our commitment to providing the community with not only a new level of convenience but a strong, committed community partner."

In June 2023, Wawa broke ground on the first Alabama location in Fairhope. Overall, the brand plans to open seven to 10 stores in the Baldwin County and Mobile markets over the next three to four years.

"We can't wait to open our doors to our new Alabama friends and neighbors and are excited for the chance to offer our new customers our unique brand of fresh food, beverages and convenience," said Robert Yeatts, senior director of store operations in a statement. "As each location opens, we will further solidify our commitment to providing the community with not only a new level of convenience but a strong, committed community partner."

Locals who have either lived on the East Coast or traveled there might be familiar with the Wawa brand. For those that are not, a simple look at Wawa's website or app will show the options not usually available at a gas station. Wawa is known for its customizable hoagies (or subs), along with a diverse array of menu options including hamburgers, pizza and breakfast items, among others.

More Wawa locations are coming to South Alabama. Stores are currently under construction at 664 Schillinger Road in Mobile, projected to open at the end of 2024. A second Fairhope location at State Hwy. 181 and 104, projected to open in early 2025. Overall, Wawa plans to open seven to 10 stores in Baldwin and Mobile County over the next three to four years.

The ribbon cutting at 7095 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile will occur at 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Robertsdale location at 21022 Hwy. 59.
