ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- The City of Robertsdale honored the top 10 students for the Robertsdale High School Class of 2017 at a banquet held May 9 at Ivey’s Fine Dining restaurant. The banquet was a fixture in Robertsdale in the 1980s and early 90s before being discontinued in the mid-90s, officials said. Mayor Charles Murphy and council member Paul Hollingsworth, retired assistant principal at RHS, revived the program in 2015 and this is the third year the city has hosted the banquet. “You are a special group of young people,” Hollingsworth said, “and we want this night to be something special that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.” Top 10 students were each provided a gift bag, which included a jacket in Robertsdale Golden Bear colors with an embroidered logo signifying that they are a top 10 student with the Class of 2017.
