The Robertsdale Golden Bears basketball team won the McIntosh Christmas Tournament Thursday, Dec. 22, to extend their winning streak to 10 games entering the holiday break.

After senior Ja’Leal White hit the game-winning shot with 8 seconds left in Robertsdale’s opening-round game against St. Luke’s to help earn a 37-35 win, he added 10 points in the championship game where the Golden Bears took down Alma-Bryant 53-35.

It was an extra special couple of days for Robertsdale head coach Marshall Davis who went to McIntosh High School and played in the same tournament growing up. A few years ago, the Golden Bears finished third at the tournament but returned this year to win the whole thing.

In the opening-round game, junior Gabe Stevens led Robertsdale scorers with 9 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals with White (7 points, 4 charges) not far behind.

In the championship contest, senior Jaxon Fuller led the Golden Bears with 11 points to go along with 7 rebounds where White (10 points, 3 charges) was again close behind.

Robertsdale’s 10-game win streak has improved its overall record to 15-3 where its last loss came against UMS-Wright 49-36 on Nov. 22 in tournament action. The Golden Bears will resume action in the new year Jan. 2, 2023, on the road against W.S. Neal.
