Community spirit was in full swing at Honeybee Park on Oct. 24, as the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for the Order of Misfits, officially launching Robertsdale's first-ever co-ed Mardi Gras association.
Locals and supporters gathered to celebrate the milestone for the newly formed group, which aims to bring the festive and inclusive spirit of Mardi Gras to the heart of central Baldwin County.
Founded by a close-knit group of friends, the Order of Misfits plans to roll out its inaugural parade in 2026. The group's name and mascot — the platypus — symbolize its dedication to celebrating diversity and welcoming all backgrounds to join in the fun.
"We are grateful to have the support of the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce as we introduce this unique and inclusive Mardi Gras association to Robertsdale," said Tony Kollins Jr., president of the Order of Misfits. "Our mission is to unite people from all walks of life in the spirit of fun, celebration and community."
Monthly meetings and planning sessions have already begun, and the group is actively welcoming new members. Open to locals, out-of-state residents, Mardi Gras veterans and first-timers alike, the Order of Misfits invites anyone looking to share in the excitement to join.
