Robertsdale décor business seeks to build relationship with local artisans

ROBERTSDALE — A new business in Robertsdale is hoping to establish a relationship with local artisans to provide an avenue for them to sell their wares.
“My ultimate goal is to connect with the community and be able to provide all local goods,” said Kristina Lynn, owner of Southern Vines Home Store, located on Alabama 59 in Robertsdale. “It’s been a slow process, but for us it’s a way to encourage people to shop locally by providing local goods.”
A resident of the Robertsdale area since 2004, Lynn taught elementary school in a couple of different schools in Baldwin County, most recently at Summerdale School where she taught through May of this year.
“I wanted to be able to stay home and homeschool my children,” she said.
She and her husband Shawn, a Robertsdale native, the son of the Rev. Michael Lynn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Robertsdale, have six children ranging in age from 5 to 11, including one they adopted from Ethiopia.

“When I decided to stay home, I discovered that I enjoyed making a home welcoming,” she said, “and decided I could help people with different aspects of putting a home together.”
With help from Judy Pfeiffer, Lynn opened Southern Vines Home Store in November. On Tuesday, Dec. 14, she held a ribbon cutting with the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce.
“Definitely being up here provides the freedom to spend more time with my family,” she said. “And the reception from the community has been great.”
The business provides a wide range of home décor, including holiday items.
“I think it’s great that they are establishing relationships to provide local goods,” said Chamber President/CEO Gail Quezada. “We need more places like this here in Robertsdale and I think it’s what makes this community great. People are just more willing to support local businesses and I think people will respond well to a business that is making an effort to support other local businesses.”
