ROBERTSDALE — Robertsdale city employees received a 2% raise last month.
The increase is in addition to a 3% pay boost employees were given in October. Officials said the extra dollars are intended as a cost-of-living allowance that will bring Robertsdale's city pay scale more in line with other Baldwin municipalities.
City Councilmember Ruthie Campbell said a 5% increase was initially suggested in October, but officials were concerned that amount could negatively impact the overall city budget.
"That's a very large jump," Campbell said. "We decided to break it up so it didn't feel like such a hit to the city."
The most recent increase took effect immediately.
