Riviera Utilities receives national award

FOLEY — Riviera Utilities was recently awarded the American Public Gas Association's APGA System Operational Achievement Recognition for excellence in operating its natural gas utility, company officials said.

"Public natural gas systems are entrusted by their customers to deliver clean and affordable natural gas through a safe and reliable distribution pipeline system," a statement from the APGA read. "To accomplish this mission, a forward-thinking natural gas utility constantly strives to improve its operating capabilities, overcome challenges and adapt to its changing environment."

Out of approximately 750 APGA members, Riviera Utilities was selected for the SOAR Silver level by its peers on the APGA Operations and Safety Committee. The selection was based on demonstrated excellence in four areas — system integrity, system improvement, employee safety and workforce development.

"Riviera Utilities was highly rated in all four areas that are required of SOAR," APGA President and CEO Dave Schryver said. "Riviera consistently demonstrates a commitment to providing natural gas safely and efficiently to all those in their community and as such, serves as a model for all other natural gas utilities in the country. APGA is proud to recognize one of our public utility partners and is confident in their continued success."

Riviera was one of 14 SOAR recipients recognized in 2022, joining the 43 previous award recipients.

"We are extremely proud of our natural gas professionals," Tom DeBell, Riviera Utilities CEO said, "and we congratulate them for being recognized nationally for continued excellence. This level of efficiency, safety and quality of service makes life better for all of our Riviera customers."
