FAIRHOPE — A ribbon cutting was held on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at J. Larry Newton Elementary School in Fairhope for the school's new wing. The one-story building is 24,055 total square feet and adds 20 new classrooms to the growing school.
"Baldwin County is growing and that is certainly evident here in the Barnwell community and the Fairhope community," said Principal Patrice Wolfe. "We just want to thank (Eddie) Tyler and the school board and
our taxpayers for helping to provide this new and safe space for our kiddos to come and learn and have fun in school every single day."
The new addition to J. Larry Newton Elementary is part of the Baldwin County School Board's "pay as you go" plan, which has been rolled out in phases to bring new additions to schools and new campuses to accommodate the recent growth.
