Sye Davis Park in Bay Minette recently unveiled new upgrades during a ribbon-cutting ceremony, showcasing a series of improvements aimed at enhancing the community gathering spot at 393 Nesbit St.
The renovations, which include new playground equipment and refreshed facilities, were made possible through the support of Gulf Coast Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) and a $3,000 contribution from Plasmine Technology Inc.
Children visiting the park now enjoy a variety of new playground features, including a slide, monkey bars, teeter-totters and the popular Tripleshot Ball Game. Families can relax at newly installed picnic tables and a wooden swing, while basketball enthusiasts have been making the most of the freshly repainted court.
These upgrades were a community effort and partnership between the city's Public Works, Parks & Grounds, Building and Recreation Department. Gulf Coast RC&D, an organization known for providing grants to improve communities across Alabama, played a key role in funding the renovations.
In addition to the playground improvements, the Bay Minette Public Library, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club, installed a Free Little Library at the park. Stocked with books available for free, the small library encourages reading and provides an added resource for the community.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured several special guests, including Sye Davis' son, Murray Davis, and grandson, Trent Davis, as well as representatives from Gulf Coast RC&D and Plasmine Technology Inc. Mayor Bob Wills, council members Matt Franklin and Pete Sellers and various city staff members were also present to celebrate the park's transformation.
