BAY MINETTE, Ala. - A ribbon cutting was held today (Monday, Nov. 22, 2021) at two new sand volleyball courts at the Bay Minette Municipal Pool/Tennis Complex on Bradley Avenue.

Mayor Bob Wills shared that sand volleyball is a rapidly growing sport in our area, with many of high school and college-level athletes taking part during their off season from school play.

Wills said the sand courts were funded through a grant from a private citizen and constructed by city staff. Plans are to expand more courts in the future to allow for additional tournament play. The sand volleyball courts are open for public use.

Following the ceremony, members of the Baldwin County High School volleyball team tried out the new courts. For more information about the sand courts, contact the Bay Minette Recreation Department at 251-580-2546.
