Residents invited to shape Alabama's bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure

Posted

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is seeking public input as it updates its Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.

This fall, a series of workshops will take place across Alabama, offering residents an opportunity to share their thoughts on improving bicycling and pedestrian infrastructure in the state.

Among the five workshops, the Southwest Region session will be held on Nov. 6 in Mobile, a short drive from Baldwin County, at 1701 I-65 West Service Road North. The open-house format will allow community members to drop in anytime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to ask questions, discuss the project with ALDOT staff and provide input on the plan's development.

The Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan aims to establish a comprehensive vision for walking and cycling as transportation options in Alabama. It will guide future investments in facilities and programs that support active transportation, ensuring the efficient use of limited resources.
