The American Red Cross is teaming up with "Friends" to help save lives this holiday season.
In celebration of the beloved show's 30th anniversary, the Red Cross is encouraging donors to gather their own "friends" and make a blood donation. Between Nov. 18 and Dec. 8, those who give blood will receive a pair of exclusive "Friends"–themed socks as a thank-you gift.
As the holiday season approaches, busy schedules and festive activities often lead to a drop in blood donations, particularly from those with type O blood, which is in high demand. To combat this, the Red Cross is urging eligible individuals to prioritize donating blood, especially during this critical time. Donors can take part in the drive at various locations, including Baldwin County, where blood donation opportunities are available in Foley, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Silverhill.
For those donating from Nov. 18 to Dec. 8, the Red Cross is offering two pairs of custom "Friends" + Red Cross socks while supplies last. Donors can keep one pair and share the other as a gift, thanks to a partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. For more information on how to donate and receive the socks, visit RedCrossBlood.org/Friends.
In the spirit of "Friends"giving, the Red Cross is making it easy for donors to help patients create lasting memories this holiday season. Donors can book their appointments via the Red Cross Blood Donor App, by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Additionally, those who donate by November 17 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice, plus an automatic entry for a chance to win one of two $7,000 gift cards. Terms and conditions apply. For more details, visit RedCrossBlood.org/Thanks.
Upcoming blood donation opportunities in Baldwin County include:
Foley: Nov. 19, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, 1613 North McKenzie Street
Gulf Shores: Nov. 20, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Peace Community Church, 8250 Roscoe Rd
Silverhill: Nov. 21, 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., First Baptist Church of Silverhill, 22040 7th St
Orange Beach: Nov. 27, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., City Hall, 4099 Orange Beach Blvd
The need for blood is constant, and every donation helps ensure that patients across the region have access to the lifesaving treatments they need. Donors are encouraged to make a difference during this special time of year and help those in need while celebrating the lasting impact of "Friends".
