Public meeting for final Baldwin County master plan review Dec. 1

ROBERTSDALE — Baldwin County leaders will host a public hearing on Dec. 1 to present the draft of the county's master plan.

County leaders have held several community meetings over the past year to gather input for how and where residents would like to see growth in zoned districts of the county.

Meeting topics included growth and economic development, natural resource protection and stewardship, rural sector protection, infrastructure service, diversifying housing opportunities and job creation.

The document drafted from those discussions outlines a guide that members of the Baldwin County Planning Commission and the planning and zoning staff will use, officials said, to guide development along the vision of local citizens.

The guide does not change any existing zoning designations or put new mandates in place. Once it is officially adopted, it will change the way new developments are reviewed in zoned areas.

The guide will provide a score card to help evaluate rezoning requests.

The draft document can be read in its entirety at www.BaldwinOurVision.com.
