Public hearing set for Orange Beach Margaritaville development

ORANGE BEACH — A public hearing will be held at the Nov. 12 planning commission meeting concerning the upcoming Margaritaville development.

The 108-acre property of the future Margaritaville resort, which will be located on the old Bama Bayou property across from The Wharf, will be subdivided into six lots for development.

The Orange Beach Planning Commission meeting will be at 4 p.m., and a city council work session that was scheduled for 3 p.m. on the same day has been canceled.

As mentioned in previous GCM articles on the subject, completion of the first phase of the Margaritaville resort is expected by the spring of 2027, and the full resort is expected to be completed by 2029. The projected plans for the property contain residential units as well as an amenity and waterfront district.

According to the planning commission agenda, other public hearings at the meeting on Nov. 12 include rezonings on Roscoe Road to convert "a multi-family residential development with 60 units into a townhouse subdivision."

The 39-plus-acre property, located just north of the intersection of Roscoe Road and the Foley Beach Express, is currently zoned for multi-family residential low density (RM-1). The public hearing will concern the rezoning from RM-1 to planned unit development (PUD).
