DAPHNE — Prodisee Pantry's First 52nd Annual Magnolia Ball brought in hundreds of people in support of their efforts to feed the bodies and spirits of Baldwin County.
The 52nd Annual Magnolia Ball is inspired by the Hulu Original show "Love in Fairhope," which followed a handful of people's quests to find love and was promoted as a mix of real life and dramatization.
The show claimed the town featured an event called the Magnolia Ball, which did not actually take exist until Jan. 5.
A red carpet was rolled out as hundreds gathered at the Daphne Civic Center to enjoy food from local restaurants and support the efforts of the Prodisee Pantry.
"We made the official title as 'The First 52nd-Annual Magnolia Ball,'" Prodisee Pantry Executive Director Deanne Servos said. "Clairborne Walsh, who I have gotten to know, said in the show that she has attended all 51 of the Magnolia Balls, so now we will host the first 52nd because that way if the show continues, and they have a 52nd, we have the first one."
Each ticket to the ball was $75, covering two grocery carts full of items to feed two families in Baldwin County. Servos mentioned that the shopping cart included milk, meat, eggs and more. All proceeds will be used in Prodisee Pantry's efforts to feed the hungry in the county.
