Just eight contestants remain after episode eight’s double elimination and the power is shifting. Strength and agility are slowly falling victim to smart game play and the ability to lie. Contestants that seemed weak and out of shape in episode one has proved the game of “Survivor” is anyone’s to win.

The eight remaining “Survivor” contestants are wet, miserable and shivering as a storm moves in from the ocean. The contestants spent the night wet and cold and face another day of miserable weather. There is a reward challenge that everyone is excited about because it is less physical. Each contestant must maneuver through an obstacle course while balancing a sandbag that must be thrown onto a target at the end. The first to complete it wins a trip to the sanctuary where they will get hot pizza, cold beer and sleep in a dry spot with pillows and blankets.

Gulf Shores native Jonathan Young is the first to make it through the first obstacle and untie his sandbag, but Lindsay is close behind. All the contestants move through the obstacle course with little trouble. Jonathan and Lindsay end up battling to land their sandbag on the target, but Lindsay ends up landing one as Jonathan’s slides off.

“Survivor” host Jeff Probst congratulates Lindsay and asks her to choose one person to go with her on the reward. Everyone is wet, cold and visibly shaking. She tells Probst she wants to take Omar because he has not gotten any rewards all season. Then she asks Probst if she could take one more person and to her surprise he says yes. Lindsay chooses Mike.

That night, a boat picks up Lindsay, Omar and Mike and takes them to the sanctuary. There are pizza boxes full of fresh pizza, a cooler full of beverages and a dry place to sit. The contestants are surprised to hear familiar voices coming from out of nowhere. To their surprise, a wall of boulders lights up with photos and videos from their loved ones. The food for their bodies is good but the food for their soul is what they really needed. The three enjoy the blankets and a dry place to sleep for the first time in 18 days.

Strategy, scheming and lies are the name of the game as contestants start to get more strategic. Lindsay is gunning for Young, but several other players are aiming for Hai whose game play is too strong according to Drea. Omar seems open to getting Hai out, but he is thinking it might be time to move on Young.

At tribal council Probst counts the votes; Young two and Hai five. Hai is out and is all smiles.

“Well played gang. That was amazing. That is how I wanted to go out,” Hai said.
