Pen Air employees donate $5,000 to The Lighthouse

Posted

Pen Air Federal Credit Union employees donated $5,000 recently to The Lighthouse as part of the company’s Jeans for Communerosity® program.

Jeans for Communerosity® is an employee-driven fundraising effort to give back to those in need in the community. Each year, employees nominate and vote for local nonprofit organizations to be recipients of this philanthropic program.

Funds are raised through payroll deductions, J4C days, and J4C T-shirt sales. Pen Air matches employee contributions and divides them equally among the 10 selected charities for the year.

Through J4C, Pen Air employees have given more than $340,000 since the program began in 2013. By the end of 2021, the program will have raised more than $390,000.

“The Lighthouse’s mission is personal for the employees of Pen Air,” said Stacie Dice, digital marketing strategist and Pen Air’s Communerosity® co-chair. “For the second year in a row, Pen Air has donated in loving memory of Katherine Clark. Katherine was a beloved team member of the Pen Air family for four years and we are grateful for the opportunity to present this check in her memory.”

The Lighthouse is a non-profit agency based in Robertsdale that provides domestic violence services within Baldwin, Monroe, Conecuh and Escambia counties in addition to sexual assault services Baldwin and Escambia counties.

The funding received will be used to support daily operations of the shelter and outreach facilities in addition to other direct services for victims and survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, said Lighthouse Executive Director Rhyon Ervin.

The funding also helps support mission and services from the community and helps provide a 20% cash match which are both required in order to secure much of our grant funding, Ervin said.
