Pain management expert Webb joins Baldwin Bone & Joint

Posted

Noted pain management expert Dr. Richard T. Webb will join the fellowship-trained orthopaedic physicians and clinical team at Baldwin Bone & Joint early May, bringing his years of clinical and academic experience to the residents of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Since 2018, Webb has served as a physician at Total Pain Care in Flowood, Mississippi, where he provided pain care management with a special emphasis on functional improvement, rehabilitation and pain reduction for patients with spinal disorders, joint issues, cancer related pain, complex neurological conditions and work and athletic-related injuries.

"Functional improvement is what leads to a better quality of life. All of medicine should be focused on improvement in quality of life, and that is my focus with pain management as well," Webb said.

Webb also served as an instructor for both the University of Mississippi's Department of Anesthesia, where he helped develop a rotation for Interventional Pain Management, and the University of California's School of Medicine, where he taught courses on the proper prescribing of controlled substances, ethics and the federal and state laws governing controlled substances.

Webb holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Political Science from Mississippi State University, a law degree from the Mississippi College School of Law, a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida School of Law, and a Medical Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, with a four-year anesthesia residency and a pain medicine fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He also holds board certification in anesthesiology and pain medicine from the American Board of Anesthesia.

"We are so excited to welcome Dr. Richard Webb to our team and all that will mean for Baldwin Bone & Joint," said Greg Shoemaker, Practice Administrator. "With the association of Dr. Webb as pain management specialist, Baldwin Bone & Joint will now serve as a leading-edge comprehensive orthopaedic care and spine center for the residents of the Gulf Coast. We will now be able to offer new and technically advanced pain management procedures that have not been available in our region."
