OWA’s Tropic Falls in Foley among most affordable amusement parks for 2nd year in a row

Tropic Falls at OWA has been named the third Most Affordable Amusement Park by HomeToGo.

This week, HomeToGo released its 2023 Theme Park Index highlighting the best and most affordable theme parks in North America. This is the second year in a row that Tropic Falls at OWA has been in the top five of the most affordable theme parks. In 2022, it topped the list.

HomeToGo, a vacation rental marketplace, ranked 44 parks across 21 states and three countries. The list compared many of the most popular theme parks across North America to uncover both budget-friendly and top dollar options for those planning upcoming vacations.

The methodology used to determine this year’s list is based on the parks most searched by travelers using HomeToGo.com with travel dates between June 1 and Aug. 31. To rank the theme parks most searched, three data points were evaluated: entry, parking and accommodation costs per person per day.

Topping the 2023 list as the most affordable is Six Flags Darien Lake in New York averaging $86.53 per person. For comparison, in 2022, when Tropic Falls topped the list, the No. 1 daily average was $95.16.

Six Flags Mexico took second place with an average of $90.80 per person. Tropic Falls at OWA with a daily average of $117.15 tied for third place with Fun Spot America Theme Park – Orlando with a daily average of $117.08.

Tropic Falls at OWA features 23 rides ranging from the Rollin’ Thunder coaster to spinning teacups. The prices used in the index were the current online adult ticket price of $26.99, free parking and the average nightly accommodation per person of $90.16. It is important to note the ticket price of $26.99 is for the theme park only.

Tropic Falls Indoor Water Park at OWA opened last summer, and the outdoor wave pool opened this spring. The water park is the region’s largest indoor water park and features a 300,000-square-foot wave pool, 142-foot-tall slide and tropical atmosphere. The current online ticket price for general admission to the theme park and water park is $63 or $69.99 at the box office.

“We know a lot of travelers have been dreaming of funnel cakes, loop de loops and the excitement of taking a trip to the theme park,” said Mike Pearce, HomeToGo representative and travel expert. “We also know that travelers are paying close attention to their budgets this summer, which is why we created this index, looking at where thrill-seekers can get the most fun for their money. As international travel continues to make a rebound, we are delighted to open up our index beyond the mainland U.S. to highlight parks in Canada and Mexico and give travelers even more parks to add to their bucket lists.”

Here are the top 10 theme parks ranked by HomeToGo, based on the cost of one-day adult admission, parking and per person stay between June 1 and Aug. 31, 2023:
