Spring is in full bloom at OWA Parks & Resort with a packed schedule of events throughout April, including a 5K fundraiser, an Easter celebration and the annual Gulf Coast Regional Mustang & Mega Car Show.
The lineup also features live musical performances and the grand opening of Gulf Coast Rep's new playhouse in Downtown OWA.
What: The Arc of the Gulf Coast is hosting its annual Steps for Inclusion 5K on April 5 to raise funds for local programs supporting individuals with special needs. Participants can walk, jog, run or roll along the scenic route while contributing to causes like Community Engagement, Summer Camps, Employment Services and Residential Housing. The race starts at 8 a.m., with free lawn games continuing throughout the morning. Day-of registration opens at 7 a.m., or participants can register online in advance.

What: Easter celebrations will span three days at OWA with the family-friendly Bunnies & Baskets event. Guests can enjoy egg hunts, springtime games and DIY crafts, including flower crowns, egg decorating and personalized Easter baskets. The fun continues with sack races, egg-and-spoon challenges and a downhill egg race. Kids can meet the Easter Bunny and pose for photos, though there is a fee for the pictures. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, with the Easter egg hunt taking place on April 19 and divided by age groups.

What: Car enthusiasts can rev up their engines for the Gulf Coast Regional Mustang & Mega Car Show on April 26. Hosted by the Gulf Coast Regional Mustang Club, the event will feature a wide range of vehicles, from classic Mustangs to modern mega cars. The show includes carnival games, lawn games and RC car racing on OWA Island. The awards ceremony and trophy presentation begins at 3 p.m., recognizing winners in multiple categories.

What: Gulf Coast Rep has opened its new playhouse in Downtown OWA, bringing live theater to the Alabama Gulf Coast. Led by Alabama native and artistic director Darren Butler, the venue will host a variety of productions. This month features Runaway Home, a cross-generational pop musical about broken souls forming a found family.
