Registration is now open for the first-ever Casting for a Cure Children’s Fishing Tournament, hosted by the Orange Beach Sportfishing Club.

The one-day event, scheduled for Saturday, May 31, aims to reel in support for cancer care and research at Children’s of Alabama.

The tournament is open to children ages 3 to 15. Entry is $30 per participant, and prizes will be awarded for the heaviest and longest fish in each age division. Additional awards will go to the anglers who bring in the smallest and largest pinfish.

Fishing will begin at daylight, with lines out by 3 p.m. Weigh-in takes place at OSO at Bear Point Marina, located at 5749 Bay La Launch Avenue in Orange Beach, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 6 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine.

Registration details, tournament rules and entry forms are available at www.obsfc.org.

Proceeds will benefit Children’s of Alabama, a private, not-for-profit pediatric medical center based in Birmingham. Serving patients from all 67 counties in Alabama and nearly every state, Children’s is consistently ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. It serves as the primary teaching hospital for the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s pediatric programs and is staffed by UAB faculty, full-time pediatric specialists and private-practice physicians.
