The Orange Beach Performing Arts Center will welcome guests for a special grand opening Nov. 16 at 3:30 p.m. The Orange Beach City Council meeting will follow at 5 p.m.
The Orange Beach Performing Arts Center is attached to the Orange Beach Middle and High School and has a 710-seat main stage auditorium with an orchestra pit, 200 seat black box theater, classrooms and offices. The $11 million facility was built thanks to a partnership between the city of Orange Beach and Baldwin County Schools. The facility ownership is shared between the city and the school.
“We have a cooperative agreement with the school that says during the day it is theirs to use and after 5 p.m. during the week and on weekends it’s ours to use,” said Annette Mitchell, Orange Beach City Council liaison to Orange Beach Performing Arts Center.
The grand opening event will have live music on the grand piano in the foyer, guided tours and refreshments. The Orange Beach Expect Excellence music department will also preview their upcoming Visions of Christmas Variety Show which is set for Nov. 17-18 at 7 p.m.
On Nov. 5 it was announced that the mayor and City Council decided to offer no charge admission to the community in honor of the upcoming Christmas season and to celebrate the grand opening of the Performing Arts Center. Visit www.orangebeachal.gov to reserve your seat.
