Orange Beach man dies in vessel-related incident

BALDWIN COUNTY – A vessel-related incident occurred at approximately 3:47 p.m. Sunday, June 8, and has claimed the life of an Orange Beach man.

Dewayne N. Stephens, 55, drowned after jumping into the water from a 2023 Bentley Legacy 200 Cruise pontoon boat. Stephens entered the water in Wolf Bay near Sapling Point within Baldwin County.

At approximately 10:14 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, Stephens was recovered by the Daphne Search and Rescue Unit with the assistance of Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division near the same location he entered the water.

Nothing further is available as this time as ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers continue to investigate.
