Makos outscored opponents 101-8 in winning streak following first-game loss

Since the Orange Beach Makos dropped their first regular-season game to the Spanish Fort Toros, the four-time defending champions have gone on a 10-game win streak and have outscored opponents 101-8.

All eight runs allowed came during their most recent host tournament, the Orange Beach Classic II, where the Makos claimed the championship surfboard with wins over Lee-Scott Academy (16-0), Fairhope (9-6), Central-Phenix City (5-0), Palatka, Florida (16-2) and Ocean Springs, Mississippi (4-0). Orange Beach added a 5-0, non-tournament win over Baldwin County on Thursday and is scheduled to be in action at the Gulf Coast Classic III to begin this week of play.

Through the first 11 games according to MaxPreps stats, junior Arkansas commit Ava Hodo led the Makos with the most hits (18) as classmate and Mississippi State commit Teagan Revette led in RBIs (19), doubles (4) and home runs (3). Senior Auburn signee Daigle Wilson, who recently surpassed the 200-steal mark for her career, had stolen the most bases (10) as classmate and South Carolina signee KG Favors had the most strikeouts (33) and shutouts (3).

Junior Arkansas commit Katie King and senior Louisiana Christian signee Kaitlynn Robertson joined Hodo in recording a 1.000 fielding percentage on at least 10 total chances, followed by Revette (.943) and Wilson (.769). Hodo had 60 putouts in as many chances with 1 caught stealing, King had 13 putouts and 2 assists on 15 chances and Robertson had 18 putouts on as many chances.

As a team, Orange Beach was outpacing MaxPreps’ offensive national averages in batting average (.454-.326), hits (123-57), RBIs (96-42) and home runs (12-3) as well as defensive national averages in ERA (1.12-7.39), shutouts (5-2), strikeouts (75-39), runs against (14-48) and batting average against (.189-.303).
