Online auction of Alabama State Surplus Property happening this week; ends Aug. 25

An extensive array of Alabama State Surplus Property will be available for bidding in an online auction this week.

The auction, hosted on GovDeals.com, features hundreds of items including used vehicles, computers, machinery, furniture and more.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) will manage the auction, which kicked off at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, and runs through 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25. In addition to state surplus equipment, the auction will also include items abandoned voluntarily by passengers at several southeastern U.S. airports.

Prospective bidders can view the list of items available for auction at www.GovDeals.com/alabamasurplus.

To participate in the auction, bidders must register on GovDeals. Detailed information on the bidding process is available at ADECA's public auction page at https://adeca.alabama.gov/publicauctions.

Surplus Property typically holds quarterly auctions, contingent on the volume of surplus items. In addition to the Montgomery warehouse, a second facility in Eva, Morgan County, also sells items throughout the year to state agencies, municipalities, counties and qualified nonprofit organizations. Items not sold during these periods are subsequently auctioned.

ADECA oversees various grant programs supporting law enforcement, victim services, economic development, energy conservation, water resource management, broadband expansion and recreational development.
