The Old Dominion Monarch women's soccer team captured the Sun Belt Conference championship with a 4-3 overtime win over James Madison Sunday afternoon at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.

Carla Morich registered a hat trick, including the game-winning goal in the 105th minute of the contest, and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

It was Old Dominion's debut season in the SBC but the conference crown marks the Monarchs' second straight league championship after they won the Conference USA Tournament last year.

The 2022 women's soccer tournament was the seventh consecutive championship hosted in Foley and served as the second of three Sun Belt Conference titles to be handed out in the city this fall. The cross country championship was held Oct. 28 and the volleyball tournament opens Nov. 16.
