New fluid art studio arrives in Gulf Shores

Posted

GULF SHORES – Hawaii Fluid Art, a new art studio that specializes in a liquid art technique creating a funky abstract painting, has arrived at the Pelican Place at Craft Farms.

Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to pick out a canvas (which comes in options from regular painting canvas to three-dimensional, ceramic balloon dogs), pick out the paints and start pouring. The finished artwork has an almost psychedelic aesthetic as the different colors seem to flow right on the canvas.

The Hawaii Fluid Art company was started in Hawaii, hence the name and the Hawaiian themes found throughout the studio.

According to the business's listing on the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber website, "Classes are offered in beach resin scenes, charcuterie boards, resin tumblers, glass art, patch hats, multi-media, poured art and more."

To create this fluid paint, special mediums are added to create thinner paint that allows for more movement once it's on the canvas. According to the studio's website, different pigments have different densities and so as the canvas dries some colors appear or disappear after drying.

"There is always a bit of mystery as to what your final piece will look like, which is part of the joy of this technique," the website states.

A splatter art room is coming soon to the location and is expected to be complete within the next few weeks. Be sure to check out Hawaiian Fluid Art's Facebook page for updates on when the room will be completed.

More information on fluid art can be found at the studio's website, hawaiifluidart.com.
