Musical instruments add rhythm to David B. Cox Universal Playground

Posted

Children and families visiting the David B. Cox Universal Playground now have a new way to enjoy the outdoors with the addition of outdoor musical instruments, creating a vibrant and inclusive space for play and creativity.

The playground, located at the corner of Bradley Avenue and East 12th Street at the Municipal Pool Complex, recently installed two sets of Congo drums, Concerto vibes and a Cabasa wheel. The equipment is accessible to children of all abilities, encouraging sensory engagement and creative expression.

The musical additions were funded by a grant from Gulf Coast Resource Conservation & Development Council, marking the second consecutive year the city has secured funding from the organization for park improvements. Last year, the city received a grant to install new playground equipment at Sye Davis Park on Nesbit Street.

Bay Minette city officials continue to prioritize inclusive and engaging community spaces that promote physical activity and creativity for all children. For more information on city parks and recreation opportunities, visit www.cityofbayminette.org.
