FAIRHOPE — The Murphy USA gas station at the Fairhope Walmart shut down its pumps after water was found in the medium grade pumps at the station.
Wes Seals, program director with the Department of Weights and Measurements division of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries said water was found in the medium grade pumps after a complaint was filed by a customer.
"It's my understanding that they've stopped all of it," he said. "I can only assume that they want to be on the safe side to make sure nobody gets bad gas until they can correct the situation."
Seals said finding water in pumps is fairly routine and the Fairhope gas station is one of five stations currently in the state where water was found at the pump.
"With all the rain at this time of year equipment is bound to break down," he said. "We just want to make sure consumers get the best product possible."
