Home runs are in season for summer 2022 as more than 1,500 baseball and softball teams – along with their coaches, families and fans – travel to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach for the Perfect Game Gulf Coast Baseball World Series and the USSSA Fastpitch Softball National Championships. Championships will swing into action in June and July at the Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Foley Sportsplexes.
“Youth sports is our ‘bread and butter,’ and these teams traveling to the beach showcases our core audience – families,” said Michelle Russ, vice president of sales, sports and events for Gulf Shores | Orange Beach Sports & Events. “It’s heartwarming to see many travel ball families revisiting the Alabama Gulf Coast as their home away from home and a true joy to witness families experiencing the area for the first time. These sports families and fans leave behind millions in economic impact for our local economy and take home lifelong memories from on and off the fields.”
In 2021, Perfect Game and USSSA summer championships contributed 94,895 room nights and $76.77 million in economic impact for the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The rest of the 2022 lineup features the following events:
