Mobile Arts Council announces 20th annual Artys honorees

Posted

The Mobile Arts Council will celebrate the 20th-annual Artys awards on Wednesday, April 9, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made a lasting impact on the local arts scene.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel.

This year’s honorees include Mary Frances Clarke, Tanya Parent, Bruce Larsen, Spoken Word of Mobile, Drew Hall, Susan Rouillier, LaDarrel Bell, the Mobile Jewish Film Festival, Hannah Legg, Cherelle “CeCe” Smith, David Rasp and Steve Mussell. Each will be recognized for their contributions to Mobile’s arts and cultural community.

The awards themselves, known for being original works of art each year, were created by local welder and sculptor Laura Ledbetter.

Guests will enjoy a catered dinner, a cash bar and live performances throughout the evening, featuring the Jimmy Roebuck Trio, Bent Broadway, Mobile’s Poet Laureate Charlotte Pence and other artists.

Tickets are available at www.mobilearts.org/theartys  for $65, with prices increasing to $75 at the door. Reserved tables are also available.

The event will also include “The Final Curtain,” a tribute honoring individuals who have passed away since 2024 but left a mark on Mobile’s arts and culture scene. Nominations for this segment are still being accepted.

The Artys remains Mobile’s only arts awards program recognizing excellence across all creative fields. Over the past two decades, it has honored individuals, businesses and organizations dedicated to enhancing the region’s artistic landscape.
