The Mobile Airport Authority is gearing up for the return of the popular BFM 5K on the Runway, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Mobile International Airport (BFM).

This unique event offers participants a rare opportunity to race directly on the airport's runway, followed by a family-friendly 1-mile Fun Run.

Post-race activities will include music, food, and a variety of free entertainment for children, including bounce houses and face painting, creating an engaging experience for all ages.

"We're excited to bring the BFM 5K on the Runway back for its fourth year," said Chris Curry, President of Mobile Airport Authority. "It's a one-of-a-kind event that gives participants a unique race experience. It also helps us give back to our community through the Mobile Airport Authority Foundation. It's a great way to showcase our airport and engage with our community in a meaningful way."

The event will benefit the Mobile Airport Authority Foundation, which funds charitable, educational, and aviation-related programs in the Mobile area. Among the beneficiaries are Penelope House, Bishop State Community College and local scholarship programs for students.

Jesco Construction has signed on as the title sponsor for the 2024 event, with support from other local businesses that are dedicated to giving back to the community.

Early registration is open until Oct. 4, with fees set at $25 for adults and $15 for children. Those who register on the day of the event will pay $45 for adults and $30 for children. All participants will receive a race t-shirt, a swag bag filled with local goodies and post-race snacks. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each category. Packet pickup and early registration will be available on Friday, Oct. 4, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet Mobile, located at 3972 Airport Blvd. On race day, registration and packet pickup will begin at 7 a.m. at the airport.
