Michael Stevens Peterson, (Mike) born Aug. 6, 1942, passed away peacefully at The Retreat Medical Facility in Mobile, Alabama, on Jun. 28, 2025. He was 82 years young. Michael resided in Robertsdale, Alabama, with his wife of 42 years, Connie.

He graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1960. He then attended Faulkner State College for two years, studying cartography. After completing his technical degree, he was employed by Volkert and Associates in Mobile, Alabama. He then finished his career and retired from the US Army Corp of Engineers in 1998.

After he retired, along with Connie, over the years they had the honor of caring for over 100 children that came through their daycare, Lullaby Land, at their home. He was an excellent cook and many of the children had a favorite dish made by Papa Mike. After Connie retired in 2019, his daughter Michelle then took over the daycare and he was employed as a substitute. He would come by almost every day to rock babies or bring by fresh vegetables to share.

Mike enjoyed tending to his garden, going to yard sales, couponing and collecting many treasures. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his precious grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his pets. He was a passionate animal lover and enjoyed sharing his love of animals with his family. Many orphaned or sick animals were saved under his loving care.  He was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, and grandfather, and he will be missed and remembered by many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erdie Peterson; his mother Mary Peterson; and his brother Erdman Donald Peterson. He is survived by his wife Connie Peterson; His Twin sister Sandra (James) Horner: His sister-in-law Helen Peterson, his daughters April (Chad) Thomas, and Michelle (James) Freitag, his grandchildren Tristen (Allison) Thomas, Aleah (Chandler) Breal, Mahaleigh & Emmalyn Freitag, and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation and memorial service will be held Thursday July 3, 2025, at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale, Alabama, with family receiving friends and family at 10:00 a.m., and memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will take place immediately following the service at the Little Hall in Silverhill.
